The historic Village of MIDDLETON in North WARWICKSHIRE has been a settlement since neolithic times, with many artifacts found in several sites close to the present village. It is listed in the DOMESDAY BOOK as being a farming area under the control of two Norman Knights, with a Priest resident. Although no trace of an earlier Church remains, the present building of St John the Baptist is essentially of Norman origin with 15th Century additions and contains one of the oldest Bell Frames in the UK.
It is located equidistantly within a triangle formed by the Towns of Tamworth, Coleshill and Sutton Coldfield, and easily accessed from the M6, M42 and A5 via the A446 and A4091 arterial roads, and several pleasant country lanes.
It is surrounded by Leasure businesses such as the Belfry Hotel & Golf Course, Kingsbury Water Park, Drayton Manor Theme Park Complex, The Middleton Hall site with adjacent RSPB Nature Reserve and contains many smaller such Publicly accessible ventures, and there are several clearly marked Public Footpaths which are popular with walkers.
In 2024 there are just over 1,000 residents in the Parish, and whilst the 1866 built School is now a private nursery, the Green Man and Bassett's Pole Pubs, McDonald’s and Fig & Olive Restaurants, Village Shop and several other sites such as Ash End Children's Farm cater to visitors.
